Interpolation-Based H2-Model Reduction of Bilinear Control Systems

چکیده
In this paper, we will discuss the problem of optimal model order reduction of bilinear control systems with respect to the generalization of the well-known H2norm for linear systems. We revisit existing first order necessary conditions for H2-optimality based on the solutions of generalized Lyapunov equations arising in bilinear system theory and present an iterative algorithm which, upon convergence, will yield a reduced system fulfilling these conditions. While this approach relies on the solution of certain generalized Sylvester equations, we will establish a connection to another method based on generalized rational interpolation. This will lead to another way of computing the H2-norm of a bilinear system and will extend the pole-residue optimality conditions for linear systems, also allowing for an adaption of the successful iterative rational Krylov algorithm (IRKA) to bilinear systems. By means of several numerical examples, we will then demonstrate that the new techniques outperform the method of balanced truncation for bilinear systems with regard to the relative H2-error.

Multipoint Volterra Series Interpolation and H2 Optimal Model Reduction of Bilinear Systems
In this paper, we focus on model reduction of large-scale bilinear systems. The main contributions are threefold. First, we introduce a new framework for interpolatory model reduction of bilinear systems. In contrast to the existing methods where interpolation is forced on some of the leading subsystem transfer functions, the new framework shows how to enforce multipoint interpolation of the un...

In this paper, we discuss a model order reduction method for multiple-input and multiple-output discrete-time bilinear control systems. Similar to the continuous-time case, we will show that a system can be characterized by a series of generalized transfer functions. This will be achieved by a multivariate Z-transform of kernels corresponding to an explicit solution formula for discrete-time sy...

متن کاملKrylov subspace-based model reduction for a class of bilinear descriptor systems
We consider model order reduction of bilinear descriptor systems using an interpolatory projection framework. Such nonlinear descriptor systems can be represented by a series of generalized linear descriptor systems (also called subsystems) by utilizing the Volterra-Wiener approach [22]. Standard projection techniques for bilinear systems utilize the generalized transfer function of these subsy...
متن کاملImplicit Volterra series interpolation for model reduction of bilinear systems
We propose a new interpolatory framework for model reduction of largescale bilinear systems. The input-output representation of a bilinear system in frequency domain involves a series of multivariate transfer functions, each representing a subsystem of the bilinear system. If a weighted sum of these multivariate transfer functions associated with a reduced bilinear system interpolates a weighte...
